5 Ways To Show Yourself Love This Season

I’m a firm believer in loving yourself first. The fact remains that you can’t adequately and fully give love to someone else if you’re unable to love yourself. I stay saying you can’t pour from an empty cup. This season, the love season is notorious for showing other people love but hardly do we ever hear the message of showing yourself love in this season. Love is love and you deserve some too and from yourself especially. Sometime back on my Thursday Talks on Instagram, I talked about Self-love Love Languages (here’s the highlight). You can follow this link to find out what yours is.

Once you know what your self-love love language is, you’re at a better position to give yourself exactly what you need and pour a whole lot of love into your own cup. In this post, I want to encourage everyone reading to practice some self-love and treat themselves like someone they love dearly. I know sometimes we may be clueless on how to give/show ourselves love so I’m gonna share 5 ways that you can show yourself love this season that are in line with the 5 love languages by Gary Chapman. You can do any or all of these or modify them to whatever works for you.

1. Take Yourself Out (Quality Time)

Date yourself babe! Take some time to do something you enjoy and spend time with yourself. This could be going to a museum, having a coffee/lunch date, visiting an art gallery, going for a picnic in the forest. And here I strongly suggest that you do any one of these activities by yourself. Love yourself and treat yourself how you want to be loved and treated. It starts from within and I promise you will feel so good once you’ve come back from your solo date. It’s everything you never knew you needed.

2. Invest In Yourself (Acts of Service)

Do something that your future self will thank you for and that will benefit YOU. Take that dance class, sign up for that financial wellness program (here’s one I’ve been meaning to try), sign up for the Mindful Planning workshop by Nyachomba, sign up for Sue’s small business consultation, start that gym membership, visit a therapist or life coach. Do something for you that will reap benefits later.

3. Buy Yourself A Gift (Receiving Gifts)

Remember that thing you’ve been eyeing, that thing that you’ve saved up for or you didn’t believe you deserved but loved so much? BUY IT! (only if you can truly afford it) if not, find something nice that you can buy yourself. It could be some lingerie to make you feel sexier, or a pair of shoes, or a trip to the coast, or some make up. Whatever it is, however small or big it is, treat yourself baby girl!

4. Get Your Pampering On (Physical Touch)

Go for a spa day, have a massage, visit the sauna, go get waxed, go get one of those skin care sessions, get your nails done, get your hair done, get some lashes, take a long bath with some scented candles on and some wine, buy a vibe, dildo or whatever toy you prefer to give your little lady some love and attention (use my code ‘WENDYM’ to get 10% off your purchase from this store). You could also try a new workout, eat well, create a skin/hair care routine. As long as what you’re doing makes your body feel good and well taken care of, do that!

5. Affirm Yourself (Words Of Affirmation)

Look in the mirror and remind yourself that you’re the baddest bitch on your block! Get an affirmation card deck that you can read daily. And my favorite way of affirmation, journal -a guided journal entry using a journal prompt for self-love. Here are a few:

  • What’s something I love about my body that isn’t aesthetic?

  • What part of my life do I love right now?

  • What elements of my personality do I love and why?

  • Why should I show myself love & how can I do that today?

  • When do I feel most confident & why?

  • What’s my favorite thing about myself?

That’s all folks! I hope this post gives you some insight on some of the things you can do to show yourself love this season or at least inspires you to love yourself a little more! Have a lovely love month!

-All the love, Wendy xx
